LipSync Battle For Your Lungs

Thurs, Nov. 5, doors open 9pm at House of Targ, 1077 Bank St - LipSync Battle For Your Lungs is back!  In its second year, this fundraiser features solo and group acts battling it out on stage for AMAZING prizes! Don’t feel like performing? Watch the mayhem unfold while eating delicious perogies!  Tickets $5.00 at the door (19+ Event). REDBLACKS Game – The Lung Association’s Charity of the Game Day

Sat. Nov. 7th, 4pm at TD Place Stadium - If you purchase your game tickets through The Lung Association, a portion of the proceeds will go directly to the cause.  Contact Melanie@on.lung.ca for more information and to purchase tickets. 

Dine for The Cause – Dinner & Silent Auction

Wed. Nov. 18th, 6pm cocktails, 7pm dinner - November is Lung Month.  The Lung Association and Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada will co-present a charity dinner at Biagio’s in support of the 1 in 5 people affected by a lung disease, including rare conditions such as Pulmonary Hypertension.  One silent auction, two great causes, three-courses for dinner.  Tickets are $50 a person, with a portion of the proceeds going back to each charity.  100% of the silent auction items sold also support the causes. Because when you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.  Tickets available by calling Biagio’s Italian Kitchen, 613-828-0770, also on Event Brite or contact melanie@on.lung.ca

Tulip Day Campaign

Compete for lung health at Ottawa Race Weekend

May, 2016 - The Lung Association is inviting you - no matter where you live - to support people with lung disease. Because when you can't breathe, nothing else matters.  Join our team at Ottawa Race Weekend, by raising funds walking or running the 2km, 5km, 10km, 21km or 42km distances. Alternately you can also join  as a member of our water station crew at the FINISH line both days! Email: Melanie@on.lung.ca

Compete for lung health at GranFondo Ottawa 

July, 2016 – Stomp the Pedals, Feel the Power, Think Big, Ride GranFondo Ottawa. The Ontario Lung Association has been  selected as the charity of choice for the GranFondoOttawa 2014. This cycling event offers distances including 65k, 100k, 170k, and 220k.  Participants are invited to raise funds on behalf of the Ontario Lung Association leading up to the ride on July 19. All funds from the silent auction items purchase also support the Association.  We are also seeking help with the 'I Love Lungs' volunteer crew for event day.

Resources & Support Groups 

 

The Lung Association’s Respiratory Health Centre in Ottawa provides programs and services for people with lung conditions.   The Pulmonary Exercise Maintenance Program operates six classes a week with patients choosing from one to four class sessions each week. 

Classes are led by Rosario Holmes, a Respiratory Therapist / Certified Respiratory Educator, and include:  lung health education; instructor-led group exercise with hand-weights; supervised use cardio equipment including treadmills, stationary bikes, and leg machines.   Each class finishes with social time including light refreshments.  

Medical referrals to the exercise maintenance program are required.   The Centre also provides respiratory Education Sessions during the weekdays for people of all ages, and with all types of lung conditions.   By appointment only.  No referral required. Call Respiratory Therapists / Educators Rosario Holmes or Joanne Cassidy at 613-230-4200.
