Asthma Action Program
Welcome to The Lung Association's Asthma Action Program. About 2.5 million Canadians and 300 million people worldwide have asthma. An individual in Ontario has a 40 per cent risk of developing asthma before they reach 40 years of age. With these great numbers, the Ontario Lung Association knows the importance of providing proper educational resources and services for those affected by asthma.

About 60 per cent of Canadians with asthma do not have their condition under good control. Therefore the Asthma Action Program focuses on providing education on the proper management of asthma so that individuals can live full, active lives. Today we have the knowledge and proper treatments to take control of asthma, and we’re here to show you how.

The Asthma Action Program provides:

  • Asthma Action Helpline: 1-888-344-LUNG (5864)
    • Available to residents of Ontario, Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm
    • Certified Asthma Educators can help you understand and take control of your asthma

  • Asthma Basics and Management: In this online section, you can learn the basics of asthma such as diagnosis, treatments and proper asthma management, what asthma triggers you may need to avoid, as well as other special topics.

  • Asthma Action Resource Centre: Educational literature on asthma is available to be viewed within this website or ordered through our online ordering system and mailed to residents of Ontario free of charge. Keep up-to-date on the latest asthma news by subscribing to our regular e-newsletters.

  • Find an Asthma Program in Your Community: Search our list of asthma education centres, asthma clinics, and asthma support groups in Canada.
